Designed with taste & care enhancing a beautiful old building. Exceptional staff. Exceptional ambience. Superb location. Roof garden/pool area are a heaven. Listening to piano from the nearby children's ballet school late afternoon is bliss. I'd live Cannot fault it. Staff really went way beyond the call of duty helping me with major itinerary dramas. We extended our stay on the back of this hotel being so lovely.
I thought the rooms were large and the bathrooms were very nice. The staff was very attentive and helpful. There was construction adjacent to my room at another adjacent property. No one warned me of the construction during the reservation process. I woke up to hear jackhammers adjacent to the wall next to my bed.
The hostel is completely isolated from the center of Cartagena, so much so that it's located in an extremely sketchy and dangerous ghetto for a solo woman traveler. It'll be more expensive in the end since you'll be needing a taxi every time to take you to the attractions of Cartagena. For a cheaper price you can find FAR better accommodations in the heart of Cartagena, where it's safe to walk around at night or day. Many locals mentioned NOT to stay there if alone and after having been in La Boquilla (hostel's location) I CLEARLY saw why. Would not recommend for location & price purposes.
