I could not enjoy as much as I wish
Rooms, restaurants. Some staff is very forgetful and do not follow through with requests. You ask something, then you have to wait, wait, and then you have to call back to follow up, wait, and wait...
New, and on an excellent location. Hotel staff are very thoughtful and nice. Hotel rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Lounge, bad and restaurant are a good place to sit and relax. Had to pass a few gates and security personnel so I trust it is secure too. Unfortunately at the time of staying pool, spa, gym were still under construction. Expected to be open in November 2014. Hotel offered free head and shoulder massage in the lobby to compensate which was very nice.
restaurants in the hotel The service at this hotel is absolutely haphazard. Some evenings they do the turndown some evenings they don't, the same for water, tea, minibar, etc. It seems the staff there have no protocols for service delivery and they do things out of memory, and then forget to do things... it was really unpleasant. Also, the front desk never answers the phone!
The service and food are excellent Very comfortable beds too b
Everything about this hotel is top-notch. Highly recommend it if you are in and around the CBD in Nairobi!
Great location for walking to shops and restaurants. Beautiful rich dark woodwork with lots of character and history to the hotel. Staff and security were awesome!!! Very clean and beds were very comfortable. The walls were soundproof. Everything was in good condition with beautiful decor. Good source of hot water for showers. Buffet breakfast with omelette bar was superb! Restaurant and bars were high quality. Spa and exercise area was a nice plus, but I did not take advantage of these services. Internet needs improved to be of the same quality of the rest of the hotel ... needs higher-speed internet services. My ability to work on the internet was hit or miss.
Staff were friendly. Location was solid, although Nairobi CBD traffic can be brutal. Room was small, bland, and surprisingly run down. Rust through the shower (which was missing its shower head - water dribbled out of the pipe). Sink & toilet in only marginally better state. Plaster smeared haphazardly over floor & corners of fixtures/bath. You come to expect shoddy worksmanship living in these parts, but didn't think I'd see it on this scale in a Hilton.
I was coming from a very remote area of Kenya. Everything from the man who picked me up at the airport to the concierge to the lovely room to the man who took me back to the airport was perfect. Couldn't have asked for a better stay. I wish I had more time there!! Buffet is a little pricey but not a deal breaker
Everything is lovely with the Hilton Nairobi, especially the staff. Only one thing bad: the room telephones are badly in need of upgrade. They appear to be from the 1970s.
Bed was comfy. Room service was ok. - We arrived at 11pm (11 in the evening to be super clear) and not only did they have trouble finding the confirmed reservation, but they also didn't have the room ready. We booked days prior and also called to confirm the reservation the day before. - Upon checkout there was a $40 phantom charge that wasn't agreed upon. They would not let us leave until we paid this, and I promptly challenged the charge with my credit card company.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. When there were problems, the staff found a solution. The room I had was quiet and very well laid out. Water was brown and intermittently didn't come on (hot).
The room and garden are lovely. Wi-Fi access is free. Desk staff are helpful. Sunday buffet brunch is very popular. The hotel is near a shopping mall with a variety of restaurants, a supermarket, and many modern shops, and you can walk safely to it. Service in the restaurant could be much better. Each day at the buffet breakfast it was very difficult to get coffee. I requested it as I entered and sometimes two more times before I got the first cup. To get a second cup of coffee, I had to get up and find a waiter. Most hotels of similar level have waiters who walk around with tea and coffee. At dinner, an ordered glass of wine is not served right away but some time after the food has been served, and after another reminder. There is little evidence that a supervisor is watching over the service or over the restocking of buffet items, until the guests request a bowl, plate or other item.
Staff and location are fabulous. Restaurant was good. The rooms were some of the most comfortable and spacious that I've stayed in Africa. Lovely experience overall. There were other visitors being very loud in the halls at night, to the point where I woke up after I had been fast asleep. I called reception to see if they could do anything about the noise; they said they would. However, the noise continued.
