Customer service, design, layout of property. Busload of highschool kids sports team staying beside and above me were quite rowdy, but hotel staff was able to quiet them after about an hour.
The location in Athens is great, and the value for the money is superb. And best of all - this hotel is PET FRIENDLY! Parking is a bit cramped when the hotel gets busy (like the 6 wedding weekend we witnessed).
The staff were wonderful, very concerned that wehad an enjoyable stay. We were having car trouble and they were willing to extend our stay for the same rate, same room. Fortunately, we did not have to extend our stay but would have been happy to do so. Would have enjoyed an indoor pool. Also the onsite restaurant was closed for lunch on Saturday, but that was the only time we really needed to take advantage of the lovely cafe. This was Thanksgiving weekend and UGA was not at home, so the hotel was very slow. We understand.
Great room. Dinner in restaurant was delicious!
Staff was great. Two outlets in the room didn't work. Coffee maker but no coffee in room
Location Service was awful. When I asked for an extra ice bucket, they told us we could get it ourselves at the bar. They then gave us the wrong room and we walked in on a naked woman. Turns out they comped the woman in the room for a free night and didn't even apologize to us. Never again.
Staff was very friendly and informative. Room service was fast and tasty. Location is great and super convenient to downtown / college campus area. Bed pillows were not comfortable and sheets did not have the crisp made bed with perfect edges appearance. Not the most comfortable bed either.
Hotel was very clean comfortable and nice! Breakfast was little cold.
We specifically requested a high floor with a view and were placed on the second floor overlooking the AC units. The hotel was loud at all hours of the night. The bed was uncomfortable despite being "adjustable", which didn't change anything. Also we woke up to charges on our credit card for parking at $10 a night that was not disclosed to us upon reservation nor check in.
Lots of parking and close to downtown.
1 hour late check out allowed Carpet smelled like chemicals used to clean up animal waste. I stayed on 2nd floor which is to be no pets. Saw people 2 doors down taking their small dog outside. I saw them coming out of the room on the 2nd floor.
Location Lication Location everything good!
The hotel is walking distance to downtown Athens and UGA. Clean room, friendly staff, decent breakfast.
Our friendly desk clerk, Baranda, was very helpful and found a room for us that would do and honored the rate that was quoted on Booking.com. SHE took care of us and next time I will just call direct when I need a room. Proximity to UGA was great and the breakfast was fine. When we showed up we didn't have a reservation. I had my receipt and booking number from BOOKING.com but they didn't have a room for us. Not sure who dropped what file. I will call the hotel directly from now on.
Really close to downtown Athens Right across the street from housing projects but there was a security guard in the parking lot all night long
Location to UGA. I was horrified when i got into bed to find bed bugs. I tooks photos and the front desk came up to my room to confirm them. They put me in a handicap room next to the elevator and that was so noisy I only slept 4 hours. With the bed bugs and then the noisy room, that was the worst stay overnight I have had - and I have travelled to many countries and cities and many hotel rooms. That was my worst experience ever.
Separate bedrooms and location to downtown Athens. Very convenient. The price was high.
Location and theme There were not any public spaces to speak of.
Location, how rooms were set up. Decorations were fabulous! Fit all of us comfortably.
Very clean and modern. Staff gave us free parking and drink vouchers when our room wasn't ready on time. Walking distance to anything important in Athens. For the price, there should be a microwave and mini-fridge in the room.
F&B was great. Local beers on tap! Rusty was awesome. Engaged all of the guests he walked by. N/A
Easy to get in and out of. The staff were friendly. The hotel smelled and the wifi was very spotty. Additionally, the breakfast was not really that great.
I just love this place!!... I stay every chance I get!
Great location, great price !

Continental breakfast; seemed laid back and not overly busy; low price The motel looked old - had patches on roof, etc.
The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful Equipment - there was a radio/clock in the room but it was not operational.
location, cleanliness, I had Room 209. When I entered room, I attempted to turn on light. It did not come in. I then attempted to turn on lamp atop the microwave oven. It did not come on. Finally, I flicked the light on in the bathroom in order to navigate my way around
location, clean, fair price When I took a shower in the morning there was no hot water. It wasn't even lukewarm. I informed the staffer when I checked out and he said I was not the only one to complain about it. Hopefully, the issue was addressed by hotel management.
The inflatable Georgia Bulldogs mascot in the lobby. We were put in a Smoking room. The desk clerk told us that's how it was booked. A. This was never an option. B. The confirmation email listed non-smoking room as an included amenity.
Disgusting! Between roaches, a horrible funky smell, and the constant presence of creepy men, this hotel is easily the worst I ever stayed at. This place needs a complete renovation to be worth the price it is listed at.
Liked the location. Needed to be a little updated room looked old and very used.
I loved that it was very small and cozy. The breakfast was great and the location was very nice as well. The windows in our room would not open, and I had booked a room with a King size bed, and they changed my reservation to 2 queens without notifying me.
The manager Holly was extremely nice and very helpful. The room was very nice the beds were soft the shower was excellent. The tv was great pillows were nice. Plenty of time to check out with a 12pm check out time. The coffe in the room wasn't the best.
Good Breakfast, assortment of options well done.
Nice, affordable room. everything seemed pretty clean, Comfy beds and good A/C, quick access to downtown Athens. Super friendly and pleasant staff. Their building a new building in front of the old. The old building is definitely dated and there are signs of some odd refurbishments over the years. (light-switch plates cut in half to accommodate new wall etc.)
Suited our needs for a place to sleep the night we were in town. Close to restaurants and gas stations. Rooms interior was dated.
Bed and hot shower $160 for 1 night
Friendly staff. Great location. Horrible a/c (too loud). Rusted out fridge. The room was non smoking but smelled strongly of cigarette smoke covered in air freshener. Gross carpet
The staff was great - very helpful and the rooms were very clean and well appointed.
Clean with a comfortable bed and convenient to where we needed to be.
Close proximity to downtown and many dining choices No
The breakfast lady was super friendly and helpful. Parking was easy. Internet worked well. Shabby. Towels were threadbare, washcloths were transparent. Pillow did not smell clean. A group of men were allowed to park and party in the unloading zone for over 2 hours. This hotel is over rated at a 2! TV had frequent reception issues.
This hotel was excellent, especially for the price. The room was large, very clean and great bed! The staff was super helpful and willing to go out of their way to accommodate. Very happy we booked here. Water pressure was a bit low, but everyone was probably using showers at same time in the morning. Otherwise, no complaints!
Close to many restaurants and shopping Pretty busy area, moderate road noise.
Nothing Everything. It was nasty, unclean, dead bugs, stunk and someone had died in the room beside our room awhile back. This was the only room we could get for our evacuation from the hurricane storm Matthew. We did not even stay there & they still charged us.
Nothing atll It was dirty, lights did not work, room was smoky. I walked back into the lobby within 5 minutes to let them know I would be staying here, and the worker said I needed to talk to the manager that doesn't come in until Sunday to see if I can get my refund
The front desk representative was amazing.
The beds are comfortable. I was not expecting a lot because it was a two star hotel. But the toilet ran all night. I went to report it but no one was in office and the sign indicated no one been there for a while. Called 911 on neighbors due to them fighting and throwing things.
Nothing. The experience was awful l. It was supposed to be a non smoking room. It reaked of smoke. The room was dirty and had awful staff. The owner avoided talking to us to avoid a refund.

Being able to book only 1 night if necessary. Location convenient to UGA too. The bullet proof glass was a little disconcerting. You could greatly improve the look of the hotel if you updated the tile in the bathroom a little. It was broken and not done very well. Also the heater and exhaust fans didn't work in bathroom.
It is close to everything. Free internet. Shower didn't work. Room wasn't clean.
nothing They need to close down never seen a housekeeper I would never recommend not want to attend that hotel and they only give you one towel when is only you your husband and your two kids I would never recommend don't want to attend the hotel not a good hotel
From the moment of our arrival, we were very impressed with the Candlewood Suites. It is located a bit west of downtown, but not far from the Georgia Mall. The only decent hotels near downtown and the UGA campus tend to be very pricey, but you can have an excellent quality room at an affordable rate for a ten-minute ride on Atlanta Highway. The staff, facilities, and rooms are top quality. We can live without a pool or a fancy restaurant, so we'll pocket the savings from staying at Candlewood and use it to have a nice dinner downtown when we're back in Athens.
The hotel is either new or newly remodeled. The rooms were spacious with a large desk and a very comfortable bed. The kitchennette was small but clean, and the bathroom was clean as well.
My husband and I spent one day at this Hotel, we got a room with a small kitchen, it was very clean. Bed was very comfortable, and staff was very nice. I would recommend this location for any couple, single or families. ;)
Wonderfully comfortable room, super kitchen setup worked great for eating in since we were trying to save a buck. Front desk is not manned continually so initial check-in was a little slow.
My suite was so nice! Queen bed, recliner, desk, extra seating, decent sized flat screen, DVD player, kitchenette with full sized microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, dishes and utensils, etc. My only complaint isn't on the hotel itself, but a group decided the lobby was a good place to congregate one night and they were very loud (which is a problem at many hotels...what is with these people that wander around hotels at night? Common courtesy, people!). Also, the room above me was apparently rented out to a herd of elephants. I was on the first floor though, so I recommend getting a room on the top floor if possible. Then I'm sure your stay will be perfect.
At arrival the key given to us was for someone else's room. We had to wait for a while until they figure out what happened without an apology. We were given a room with a queen bed, our reservation said king.
My wife and I had the most comfortable stay at this hotel. The staff were all very pleasent and most helpful. Facilities and amenities were exellent. We will gladly stay at Candlewood Suites Athens again.
I stayed at the Candlewood for two nights and it was definitely somewhere that I would stay again. The room was huge and very clean. The staff at the front desk was incredibly helpful. We had a great time staying here and if I ever get back to Athens, I'll be staying there again.
Found this relatively new, clean, comfortable hotel for a reunion trip. While it's outside town on highway to Atlanta, well worth the extra few minutes to get there.
Clean and functional extended stay hotel. Room was very roomy with fridge, small cook top, and microwave.
The air conditioning did not work in the first room they gave me, so had to change rooms. In the second one I was greeted by a rather large roach. No, don't think I'll stay there again.
The facility was very nice. The amenities in the hotel and the room were great. The kitchen was the nicest one I have seen in any similar hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Did not liked ANYTHING about the hotel The room was very dirty, there was a connecting door with the next room and it didn't locked. There were people on the other room screaming, calling out names. The stairs were dirty with shady people standing, smoking and drinking.
Nothing Where to even begin? Worst motel ever.
It had many amenities, but unfortunately, there were only 5 and they were all soaps. There was no bathroom door except for a piece of wood that pseudo-closed if you swung the hinge right.
Nothing Dirty. Had fleas. Toilet did not work right.
Nothing. It was dirty. Broken lights, pictures, and sink. Very noisy!!
It was so awful we did not even stay there. We could not receive a refund. If you want to stay somewhere to sell drugs this is for you. The clerk gave us a room and when we went to go inside there were still people in it.
That we were in Athens Toilet had wallpaper covering it 2 of 4 lights in the room actually worked. Our sheets said DB all over them in permanent marker...why?Holes in walls and bathroom doorCarpet had major water damage/partially detached
It was only 2 nites roaches, smell, damaged room door
All the rooms smelled like someone was constantly blowing cigarette smoke in my face.
Very close to where we needed Rented a king but got a queen room and none if the price was decreased
The location was decent considering where I was going to go. Cheap price. The room was small, not very clean, with many upgrades needed with the furnishing. Reminds me of movies with a 'getaway motel'.
Location was the only good thing about this property Poorly maintained and not cleaned well. Plug for lamp in between beds didn't work. Bathroom had mildew stains (hope it was stains!), not clean enought to be comfortable enough to use tube/shower. Fridge was filthy. thinf walls between rooms.
The staff great you with smiles and are more than happy to help make your stay pleasant with suggestions of activities, restaurants and sights to see. An older hotel that is clean and maintained. We feel we got a great value for our money.
Great hotel for a football weekend. Clean room and nice location with good selection of restaurants. Breakfast was average...nothing to write home about. Biscuits were a little dry and hard.
