Location, location was the most oustanding benefit for us, along with te use of casino. Hotel was fairly expensive for what it was, although accommodation seems expensive in this location at this time of year - perhaps time for upgrade in peticular the bathroom.
the proximity fo the accomodation to the cbd.
The pool area is lovely. The view from the room of the ocean (when we changed rooms). The decor of the room was dowdy, making it dark and uninviting. It did not seem at all like a luxury suite. On our previous visit (5 years ago), we had stayed in a room rather than a suite. It was decorated much more nicely and felt fresh and good to be there. Also, the bed was uncomfortable, making a good night's sleep difficult.
the helpfullness and consideration of staff i tought it was just a bit more out of town than i expected, but that was my issue, not the hotel
The great rooms, good restaurants and fantastic pool. Needs more shuttles into Darwin City.
The room. It was beautiful. Even received chocolates on the pillows at night time. Loved it! Many of the staff were lovely. Waitresses didn't know the menu (sunset restaurant). Menu said Cocktail of the week, however the waitress said there wasn't one and so did the barman.Waiters talking in different language in front of customers - loudly.
Spa bath, King size bed, balcony, Evoo Restaurant, lots to do without leaving casino, 11am check out Bar service was very slow in the gambling area, only had one drink wanted 4 or 5. DVD player was not tuned to the TV,
Location convenience. Unable to access balcony from room.
Smoking is outside. Casino staff were friendly & taught me how to play at tables. As soon as we arrived staff were there to take our bags from car to room.
We loved the pool area, I'm sure it is going to be more outstanding once the renovations are done! With so much grass area space at the back of hotel a mini playground would be wonderful for kids to play in with BBQ for hotel guest to use so we can sit relax other than the pool area looking at the wonderful ocean view you have to offer as you feel uncomfortable taking chldren downstairs to eateries in the casino.
The closness to the city walking distance to everything The hotel wasn't as nice as we expected, for the money we paid we thought it was abit to much, the hotel appartment look nothing like the photo's as we where there for or first anniveriery and were not impressed. and would not recommend.
Convenient location with excellent facilities and an upmarket feel to it without being intimidating. Pleasant and efficient staff. Shortage of free parking.
I expected wired internet to be supplied free to the room
Spaciousness and facilities of our room. Air conditionioning problem was reported, fixed the next day
Booking online apparently cancelled my reservation. Staff were most helpful in re-organizing.
That it was very close to restaurants and pick up location was right outside the back door for all of our excursions..great location.. The menu selection was not very good and actually the food wasn't to our liking..as far as room service went..we did not eat at the restaurant itself..so I can not comment if the food there was any different..-----I Will say the room was large and comfortable and the view was great...
Excellent location with hartbour views, walking distance to shops, restaurants
comfort, room service meals, peace
I liked the location on arrival late afternoon, there was a breakfast tray on the floor outside our friends room, obviously not collected earlier that day. Not a good look!! Also, I don't think tables at the 'bar' should be able to be reserved..bars are usually first come first served. We called in for a very brief drink, were only going to be there 8 minutes, sat at a 'reserved' table only to be told by two young staff that we shouldn't be sitting there. After explaining our short visit, we were 'allowed' to stay....not very welcoming...
had a great time enjoy the hotel and the darwin harbour precinct
the location rooms smaller than expected and service was spoasmodic
The staff was pleasant. The room was nicely furnished. The oneline information about the hotel indicated that there was free, wireless internet access throughout the hotel. This was not true. There was not wireless access except in the lobby area and access was not free anywhere.
We loved the location and the staff we very helpful Unfortunately, when we arrived, our booking was not in their system. So, despite booking through your organisation, we had to pay again on our credit card. When will you refund our money? Please respond asap
The position of the hotel on teh waterfront, the views, the room service was very efficient and also when we checked out. The service always had a smile which makes for a nice change, great views, and awesome to be so close to the wave pool.
New and very comfortable hotel, big room, fully furnished, dining and breakfast were pretty good and not expensive considering the level of the accommodation.Staff friendly The hotel is finished but some improvements on the surrounding area are still on so it was fairly noise in the morning. It's better to have a car because it is not so close to restaurants and shops on foot.
The view was excellent and the proximity to the CBD was very good The servicing of the room was very poor.
Great location Credit card surcharge, the epitome of poor business practices. Especially for travellers from overseas such as us.
The staff at reception were very helpful and courteous. Will be great once the place is fullly finished! Building was not yet completed.
This is the 'elder' Holiday Inn in Darwin (the new - more expensive - one is located next-door. A bit worn around the edges, the hotel is popular with workers from the Timor Sea oil rigs which accounts for the fact that breakfast starts at 3:00 a.m. and runs for seven hours! The rooms are adequate but no more. Each has a small balcony and those on the Esplanade side have a magnificent view across a green park to Darwin's outer harbor. The hotel is quiet and within walking distance of the shopping district. Taxis are readily available for longer trips and are inexpensive by American standards. The desk staff was welcoming and efficient, the room was clean but weary. We found the breakfast to be EXCELLENT and suspect other meals would be too. Chosen for its moderate price, the Holiday Inn did not disappoint and we would stay there again.
We stayed in this hotel by accident. There are TWO Holiday Inns in Darwin and this, the old one, has seen better days. The place is showing its age, especially in the furnishings and a kindly but obvious lack of attention to cleanliness. Many of the residents appear to be roughnecks from the Timor Sea oil rigs, a fact which explains why breakfast begins at 4 a.m. All that said, we had a great stay! The hotel's location -- it looks out across a park to Darwin Bay - is wonderful but not particularly close to the actual harbor area. The staff was friendly and the food both tasty and inexpensive. Darwin is not exactly a tourist mecca but its a fantastic little town in the tropics with a lot of history and not too far from wonderful natural parks and superb aboriginal rock art. Several local museums, especially the aviation museum, are excellent and well worth a visit. In all, this hotel is, like Darwin itself, a bit funky and kind of fun. Recommended particularly if cost is a consideration...
The proximity of the hotel to points of interest within Darwin City was excellent. It is also good value considering it's location.
The pool was kids under 2 friendly Only having a breakfast restaurant made it a little hard but there is plenty of places just a short walk away.
Beautiful surrounding gardens and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Noise level, from nearby pubs on the weekend, could hear the bands playing, people going past drunk. Road sweepers every night and lots of traffic noise very early in the morning.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, The microwave oven, sink and crockery came very handy. The room was cleaned and serviced daily which was a nice gesture. The Resort is in a TOP spot, walking distance to shops, the 'Wave Pool', Restaurants and so on. I would recommend this place to anyone. The Duplex Villa is a bit small, but the verandah made up for lack of space inside. The room could have done with an extra wicker chair instead of only one and maybe a small round table.
Very friendly and nice staff. Nice pool area with palms and deckchairs. Nice facilities (laundry, etc.( We wrote an extra complaint already. We stayed three nights at the Palms City. Two of them were fine. The last one unfortunately a nightmare. We were hunting 20 - 30 bugs all night long and couldn't get to sleep because it was really discusting and disrupting. When we used the insects spray, it even got worse and we had an invasion of bugs coming out from the corners of the room and from under the bed. Please see our complaint form we filled in at check-out. We would expect a refund for the last night!
The villas were excellent and the provision of an electric bbq on the balcony was a welcome addition. the pool was a welcome respite - overall the facilities were great
Nice quiet and convenient location. A lovely sheltered pool for a refreshing swim in lovely surrounds. A little compact but larger units were available if preferred.
the room was spacous, the staff were excellent the private spa was not privatecould of had a few more facilitys i.e a games room, inhouse meals and the wifi did not work and tv recepoit was very poor
The rooms where quiet cosy had a nice pool and the staff where very helpful There wasnt anything I did'nt like about this Resort
I loved the location,so close to everything,friendly staff,comfortable room,lovely pool area.
It was very centrally located. The rooms were a little dirty and the beds very old and uncomfortable.
Good service, food also good and the location of our room. All good
Very helpful Staff, view from room, swimming pool, late checkout, massive 'single' bed, well priced room service. Can't open the windows
Location, access from transport, waterfront and in-house facilities excellent.
It was in the heart of the city district and close to shops and the bus station to the rail terminal. Tours were easily scheduled for pickup at this location. The pool was wonderful to be in with the hot humid weather during my stay. My room had an odd smell that I detected off and on, sort of like dried urine. The drapes were not in very good condition and there was no inner sheer window covering. The carpet needed to be cleaned as my socks collected a lot of dirt after I walked on it in my white socks.
Location was excellent... walk to town, within walking distance of great eateries at the wharf, excellent wave pool for the kids across from the hotel. Excellent access to the convention centre for business. Great walkways to exercise. Air conditioning was inefficient freezing in lounge room and too low to feel in the bedroom. Paid movies did not play very well. Otherwise everything was fine.
the hotel was clean and modern with good ammenities. I thought it was a bit too expensive and the parking was annoying being in a the sixth floor carpark alongside the Medina
The view, and the spaciousness of the apartment. The location to the city and restaurants, pool and spa facilities. We had to ring for milk twice, handle came off the sliding door on the wardrobe and the sliding to the balcony would not lock, plus we filled the maintenance slip and it was not collected by the staff.
Fresh, modern, comfortable accomodation, with freindly helpful staff.Great views.Good services on offer. Wait staff a little detremental towards parents with prams
The room was well apportioned and roomy. The bed was confortable and the view was excellent. Good location for conference goers as I was. Your staff were not helpful or informative. We were not sold any of the extras that came with the hotel such as the spa, the gym, the tours, etc.Your restaurant had poor service and the food was poor quality - both my partner and I suffered from eating at Curve and will not eat there again even if we stay at your hotel. Your TV was not functioning properly and it was disappointing not to be able to connect my computer to practice my presentation. No assistance was available from your staff when questioned - except - pay to use the internet downstairs - when I am already paying for my room, this is quite poor.
Was not told of earlycheck in cost. Poor value.
Pretty much normal hotel experience - not exceptional but not at all bad
Gateway to darwin and waterfront Hassles getting a DVD player
Quite, beautifull view, short walk to city and pier, Crustacean Restaurant defintely is the winner. Arrived 05am the receptionists didn't offer to help the luggages into the foyer, even though he was at the door, poor serivce!
Poor service, upon arrival our our booking had not been received even though i had confirmation of the reservation. Was dissapointed in the staff & there lack of interest/care.
Only stayed11 hours so not much to say but liked it Gym needs a water dispenser
The fact that is was close to the city Service was a bit poor, and we had trouble with the airconditioning which required us to move to another hotel room..
Great services and excellent location No
The bed is very comfortable and room well designed. The staff were not well trained and nor they have a professional manner. I guess it goes with "The Territory". They were not aware of my booking when I arrived. Very poor. My phone did not work. Little concern was given to this problem and I was unable to use it throughout my stay. Indiginous folks brawling outside the lifts on my floor was an indication of the clientele. Again very poor for an "up-market hotel".
Its location in the city centre and pool facilities were very good.
Clean and comfortable good aircon, the two early morning fire alarm drills while we stayed there,
Comfortable room. Good location for business. Good pool Gym smelt
Surcharge for views was robbery. This hotel has tiny non-opening windows facing the water. It was completely misleading and I wish to lodge a formal complaint about this rate surcharge.
it is centrally located, clean, and services were very adequate.
The esplanade view, especially from, room 517. it was quiet (once we moved away from the construction noise next door).
Breakfast menu It had a temporary pool that was smaller than a suburban backyard pool and there was major building works next door. We were not informed that we could use the hotels pool next door until we complained at reception. The rainforest effect around the interior of the hotel was very musty smelling. Very outdated furnishings - not a 4 and a half star hotel. Also disappointed with the extra we paid for a harbour view.
Restaurant food quite good. Comfy room, bed etc. Nice interior layout of inside of hotel. Reception area decorated with overhanging plants & ferns in foyer/bar area absolutely delightful. No,
Centraly located Restaurant very average
comfort of the room big enough to totally spread out and not trip over anything no
Everything was very clean and inviting, the foyer was beautiful and the pool area was clean and inviting also. Its a beautifuly located motel and the view is fantasic if facing the esplanade. I found that the staff didnt seem interested about being at work and didnt smile much at all, not very many desk staff seemed happy to help only that is was a chore to answer a question if we had it. I also asked for a brocure on the hotel and it couldnt be provided. I feel the amount we paid just for a basic hotel room was a bit overpriced.
the friendly staff, close to all amenities,
absolutely nothing - checked out early dark, damp, depressing, over priced, over rated
The entire hotel owners/staff (I believe we met all of them over our stay) was just amazing. They were very friendly and helpful for anything and everything. The room was packed full of goodies to help enjoy our stay. I seriously cannot say enough good about the staff though; they clearly care deeply about their customers. The hotel is toward the outskirts of the town but do keep in mind the town isn't very big at all so that isn't a major setback.
