SIDE Design Hotel Hamburg

The hotel was very nice. Grand entrance. Helpful staff. Valet parking. Spacious, clean room. Pool on site. Pet friendly. And the restaurant Meatry in their lobby was delicious.

Little things I didn’t like: 1. The room would be great for one person traveling for business but I found it hard for families or anyone wanting privacy in the bathroom. The whole bathroom is glass or frosted glass including the doors. So when someone gets up to take a shower or go to the bathroom it lights up the whole room and wakes the other person up. Since the doors are just sliding glass there is no sound barrier. 2. We booked a room for 2 adults and one kid. But there was no couch or anything other then one double bed I. The room for sleeping. They wanted more money for an extra bed. Tacked on fees annoy me. 3. Parking was on the expensive side, 32 euro a night. 4. Pool had a hot tub attached to it but was the same temperature as the pool and sauna was under renovation.

Marketed as kitchenette with refrigerator. Actually a mini-bar. My husband had to ask twice that it be cleared out so we could use it. The thermostat was malfunctioning and we could not change temperature. A staff member said someone from technical staff would take care of. Never happened. The shade spanning the floor to ceiling windows would raise and lower on its own. Housekeeping neglected to clean coffee cups used and replace coffee. We had to call. Next day that was okay but no wash cloths.
